The game underwent significant changes in its play mechanics and storyline under PlatinumGames' involvement, although Kojima Productions retained responsibility for the game's overall plot and Raiden's design. The project resurfaced in late 2011 under its finalized title, with PlatinumGames as the new developer. However, the team met with difficulties in developing a game based on swordplay, so supervising director Hideo Kojima postponed its development until a solution could be found. The game was originally being developed internally by Kojima Productions, who announced the game in 2009 under the title of Metal Gear Solid: Rising. The series' usual stealth elements are also optional to reduce combat. Through the use of Blade Mode, Raiden can cut cyborgs in slow motion and steal parts stored in their bodies. The gameplay focuses on fighting enemies using a sword and other weapons to perform combos and counterattacks. In the game, the player controls returning Metal Gear character Raiden as he confronts a private military company that wants to destabilize peaceful nations for profit. It is a spin-off in the Metal Gear series, set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Sam shouldn’t give you too many problems, but if you find yourself losing a lot, try playing it safe over getting the most of his moves.Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Konami. Also keep in mind that you can stun him with EMP’s / the sai, which can occasionally save you from taking damage. On the other hand, distance will have less moves, but you have a much smaller window to dodge / parry his moves. Up close will typically have longer moves, but they’re quite slow. Outside of learning his moves, I suggest figuring out what works for you. This is an unblockable move, which MUST be dodged. Thankfully you can parry every move Sam throws at you, except when he has his sword over the shoulder.

Similar to every other boss in the game, Sam makes it perfectly clear what move is he going to do, you just need to know how to block it (can be hard).
Since there isn’t a lot of depth to Sam, I suggest learning what his moves mean. As mentioned above, you can knock the sword out of his hands at times, but he will pick it up via a cut scene shortly after. Spamming EMP grenades will stop working on him, though they’re useful if you need a second to breathe / do something.Ĭontrary to virtually every other boss in the game, Jetstream Sam has only one phase.

Do not rush the quick blade events! Typically you’ll have more than enough time to do them, plus rushing them can result in you wasting time / taking damage.When you see a blue outline around your screen, it’s your prompt to go blade mode.While there aren’t a lot of things to exploit, there are a few tricks to make him easier. It’s not that Sam is a particularly difficult boss to beat, but you will need to parry attacks / plan ahead to avoid being defeated. Unless you were a big fan of Monsoon, you’re probably going to hate Sam.
